It is now time to start talking about it in conversations with family and friends about our next concert in aid of the Youth Drop in Centre.   The ticket price will be £5 and I feel certain that it will be very good value for money.

This will be the first time that this group has visited GMC so a new experience for all.   Our last concert was well attended and those who came will attest to the enjoyment we all experienced on that occasion.   Opus 32 is a choir of young people with some young adults and again I think it is particularly appropriate that youngsters be involved in helping to raise money for our project, which is to provide a space for young people to relax under supervision that can be called their own.   Opus 32 is closely associated with Sittingbourne Methodist Church and that is where their rehearsals take place.    The concert will include some Gospel music, songs from the 40s and 50s, some other secular music and some sacred songs as well.   I am also told that there will be a few instrumental items included in the programme.

Coming to this concert with our friends is surely one the easiest ways to move God’s work forward.   It will be a great evening so please make a note in your diaries today if you have not already done so.

Few families manage to escape without feeling the effects of cancer in one form or another.   Those of us who have been affected closely will know of the fantastic support given by the nurses of Macmillan.   Locally they work out from the Wisdom Hospice in Rochester  and are ready to help at a moments notice.   Each and every day in the UK another 780 people are diagnosed with cancer. We want to be there to reach every one of them, and their families and friends, and you can help us achieve this.   Supporters provide 99% of Macmillan’s income

September is miles away I hear you say but all I want to say now is that yes, the event will take place and yes, please give us your support.  Last year, country wide, over 50,000 coffee mornings raised £7.5 million for this charity simply by lots of people putting the kettle on.  I have some friends from Walderslade helping as usual but there will plenty of things that can be done locally.   Quality bric-a-brac usually sells well so please save any thing that you no longer have a use for or give it to me now and I will store it.   The same applies to books.   Nearer the time there will requests for cakes and the like for sale on the day.   These always go well and the stall is usually sold out quickly.

We had a good time last year and I’m looking forward to this year’s event.
